I’m starting my garden for this year :) pretty exciting it’s that time of year. I planted a few different things. Peppers because they take a while. Then beans because you can grow them and have different harvesting time and these should have beans on them by May if not sooner.

This is Bo or Bo Bo. I don’t think I’ve ever posted him. He is the one that killed and injured the other goats. It hasn’t really been the same since. He’s a good boy inside but outside he is awful.

Little zayn is doing good today. Hes been playing with the puppies most of today. It’s been so nice out. He’s had a lot of fun. He loves to play with anything and everything.

The chickens have been pretty good lately. I’m hoping with this warmer weather we’ll have hopefully I’ll get an egg or two from them. I have 4 good laying hens currently.

The boys seem to not use the rest of there pen ever. No tracks in the snow from them in the other area. Pretty interesting that they never venture anywhere else.

I lost one quail total during the super cold stretch. The rest seem to be doing good. They seem to be living up to being cold hearty. I was worried because they were smaller they wouldn’t do as well as chickens do. But they seem to do the same

Bart is in trouble. With the girl cats. He is the only unfixed male in the house and I have 5 unfixed females. All the females want him and want to spend time with him. Zelma is his main girl. Then there’s the kittens and then my orange cat probably gets the least with him. But he makes sure everyday he cuddles with his girls and spends one on one time with them. But this makes the girls not really like each other. Besides the three kittens they are fine with sharing him. But Zelma doesn’t like to share and is pretty upset he chooses other girls over her. Also Bart has to be sterile to not knock any of these girls up. So he’s a very cheap male cat to have.

This is my start of my ice pile. I wonder how much I’ll get from leftover waterers by the end of the year. It’s already pretty high for how recently it started being cold enough to freeze everyday. I think I’ll have it be 10 inch tall pile by spring. If I keep it in this tiny section.

I got a new chick brooder I’m excited to use. It looks to be a good size. Said up to 25 chicks. We’ll see about that though. I’m hoping it works good. I’m going to start the incubating process as soon as February.

The dogs enjoyed the snow filled walk today. It was the last nice day near me for a while. Now it’s just going to be cold. I’m not ready for chores when it’s this cold.

These were all the chickens that were inside today. Really shows how many are gone now. But you can only grow and improve. They also make that corner a mess because they sleep there. I need to make it a way I can clean up because right now it’s piling. They never hangout down there. Only chickens that are too little to go up top ever have slept down there. Which I won’t have any little chickens being added for a while.

The chickens got left over zucchini from 2022 garden I was clearing out my freezer. Great winter snack for them. They seemed to love it. I had quite a bit of it.

So my main rooster looks like his comb isn’t going to make it through this winter. It’s common for them to freeze off in the area I’m in. We’ll see how it turns out with this colder weather coming.

My goats are seriously getting bigger. I didn’t realize how much they’ve grown until yesterday looking at baby pictures of them. They were so cute. I’m excited for how much bigger they’ll get. I don’t think they’re done growing yet.

I think I did end up with one rooster out of the last batch I hatched. If you look at the one chicken that has a really red comb vs the other two that are very pale or basically have no combs. The one that is red is a rooster or will be a rooster when he continues to grow. The comb will continue to grow and be red. When the hens get mature theirs will start to grow and be almost identical to the rooster currently. The difference is the roosters won’t stop growing for a while. The hens also won’t grow theirs until they are ready to start laying eggs or are sexually mature.

My girl goats are getting pretty big. I think they are pushing 60 pounds at least. They are very friendly and nice. They always follow me around when I go inside there pen.

This is Zayn in the front. He’s getting old. He turns 8 tomorrow. I’m hopeful for many more great years with him. He’s very healthy right now and acts just as old as the puppies.

The chickens are pretty cool. I’m running out of them though. Honestly. My dogs got in again. I don’t have predators otherwise. But my dogs just keep getting in a new way each time. They seem to be getting more and more clever. They got my ducks in the last attack. All of them. So I’m really sad that I don’t have ducks anymore.

The quail are always fun to watch. They like to watch you back it seems. They aren’t to timid. They don’t seem to like very many treats besides worms. I’ve tried to give them a variety of other treats and they don’t eat it.

I love the quail. This is my favorite level of them. I have 4 levels in the quail tower. They are very easy to take care of. I’m excited for them to start laying again. I think as soon as they start I’ll start incubating. I don’t think they’ll start until spring, I’m hoping early spring. I’ll keep you updated on when I start to get eggs.

This is Meana she is a very nice girl. She likes to sleep in this bed most days with Cindy. She seems the most mature out of the three kittens so I think she was the oldest of the three. She likes to cuddle when she wants otherwise she basically leaves you alone and does her own thing most of the day.

My chickens and ducks are out today. The goats destroyed the netting on the old chicken brooder in the background so it’s staying in there until spring when I fix the wiring and hopefully make a door on it. It helped raise most of the chickens there today. It’s also super foggy today.

Drogon was looking real cute today. He’s probably one of the best cats I own. He likes to cuddle a lot but isn’t overbearing about it. He gets grumpy when you move him. He has a nice meow but isn’t too talkative.
